Visiting Apple Park, Cupertino
A visit to Apple Park in Cupertino gave Rory a unique insight into how innovation, design, accessibility, sustainability and business can come together in one place.
During his time at Apple Park, Rory had the privilege of meeting and learning from people from across the Apple community, including Susan Prescott, Mike Benza, Sarah Herrlinger, Vicki Martin, Greg Hughes, Bianca Yacoub, Julia Sohnen, Kim Silverman, Don Marotta and many members of the Apple Education team.
The conversations gave Rory a unique insight into Apple’s culture, leadership and approach to innovation, while allowing him to learn from people working across education, accessibility, technology and business.
A particularly special moment was meeting Apple CEO Tim Cook. Rory was struck by Tim’s warmth, humility and genuine interest. Indeed, the experience left a lasting impression on him. It also reinforced something Rory had seen throughout his wider experience with Apple: that technology is measured not only by innovation, but by the positive difference it can make upon people’s lives.
Rory also had the opportunity to experience Apple Vision Pro first-hand, offering a fascinating glimpse into the future of digital interaction and the possibilities emerging technology can create across the areas of creativity, learning and accessibility.
As a Business Studies student at Ulster University, the visit also provided Rory with a great deal to reflect on. Seeing Apple Park first-hand and speaking with people from across the organisation gave him a deeper understanding of how leadership, culture, brand, design, accessibility and long-term thinking can come together within one company.
The experience was one Rory left feeling incredibly grateful for - with new ideas, new perspectives and an even greater sense of excitement about where his own journey might lead next.
